At Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture, Multan, we ran a roughly 2,000-node network across two separate campuses spanning about 680 acres combined, a teaching campus on Old Shujabad Road and a working agriculture farm site at Jalalpur Pirwala, tied together with 10 kilometers of fiber. That’s the kind of scale a normal office network was never designed for, and it’s the kind of project we build for regularly.

Why University Networks Need a Different Approach
Three problems show up on almost every campus project we take on, and none of them are things a standard office network has to solve.
- Distance between buildings, sometimes real distance: A hostel, a lab block, and an admin building rarely sit next to each other on a campus, and at a site like MNSUAM, the working farm campus at Jalalpur Pirwala is a separate location entirely from the teaching campus. Getting a stable, unified network across that kind of layout means fiber runs planned around actual site distance, not a single switch closet serving everything. Our 10-kilometer fiber build across MNSUAM’s two campuses is the clearest example of what that looks like in practice.
- More devices trying to connect at once than most buildings ever see: A lecture hall clears out and refills every fifty minutes, each time with a couple hundred phones and laptops competing for the same Wi-Fi. Consumer routers and a handful of access points scattered around a building don’t hold up under that pattern. The 150-plus Ruckus access points we installed across GIFT University’s Gujranwala campus were placed and configured specifically to handle that kind of repeated peak load without the network slowing down every time a class changes.
- Research, admin, and student data on the same physical wiring but not the same network: A campus network usually has to carry three different worlds at once: student devices joining and leaving Wi-Fi constantly, administrative systems handling records and finances, and, on a research-focused campus like MNSUAM, lab and field-research data that should not be reachable from a student’s phone. Keeping those separated by proper network segmentation, not just a different Wi-Fi password, is standard practice on every campus project we run, including the full campus LAN and Wi-Fi rollout we completed at Punjab Tianjin University of Technology.
Load shedding adds a fourth layer that’s specific to running in Punjab: a switch closet losing power mid-lecture or mid-lab session is not a minor inconvenience on a campus, so UPS-backed core infrastructure is part of how we plan these builds from the start, not something added after the fact.

Can you install without disrupting an active semester?
Yes. Work gets scheduled around class timings, exam periods, and building-by-building access rather than requiring a full campus shutdown, the same way we planned the rollouts at GIFT University and PTUT.
What happens if a research lab or field site loses power mid-session?
